Last time, we spoke about wounds in general and how to heal.

Today, we’re just going to go in-depth about what we spoke about last time, for more understanding and for seeing a more practical way of seeking healing

1. Recognising Wounds

As we saw last time, many of us may be wounded without being aware/ take their pain as normal/ as part of life. Many of us are in a phase of denial, but again we have to know that “EVIL IS NOT NORMAL”. Repeat that again.

Any time you feel negative feelings rising up in your heart, you have to know that something is going wrong. Why? Because everything God created was and is very good. If anything is having a negative effect on you, it’s simply because the hand of the enemy is somewhere in the process (whether in that thing or in your mind/thoughts).

Be aware of the presence of the enemy. Sometimes, we tend to forget that satan is amongst us. And that’s his technic. The devil always tries his best to hide his game so that we forget that he is behind all that pain/sorrow. he hides behind people’s attitudes, situations, verdicts etc. And sometimes, tends to put the blame on God and we take our circumstances as coming from God “for teaching us” yet that’s an attack.

So, the first step into recognising a wound:

•> Identify the devil/evil in your life

Let’s read in:

~ Ephesians 6:16

~ Prov. 4:23

~ Psalm 139:23-24

Any area of your life that is subject to a negative impact is likely to get wounded if there is no backup force (a force that counteracts the impact). It’s like in physics; if the action force is greater than the resistance, there is a crash or crack; it will collapse/buckle/break/shatter… Whatever you can call it.

Same thing with our hearts. For recognising a wound, you have to check the areas of your life that are often attacked (for example, it can be your size/accent/performance etc.). The devil tends to attack the weakest parts of us/parts where we lack confidence (depending on the society we’re in as well), for shaking us and also distracting us so we don’t focus on reinforcing our stronger parts.

•> Check your attitude

~ 2 Cor. 13:5

~ Prov. 27:19

Your attitude says much. Check your reactions, are they normal? Does it match God’s Word and ways? Does it glorify God? Are you bitter, downcast, or defensive? What’s your motivation? What’s the belief behind your acts/words? What’s your perspective towards your situation? And whom are you blaming? You? God? People?

Anything that doesn’t match God’s truth might be a sign of a wound. You have to understand why you act the way you act and know why you use the words you use. We have to reach a level where we don’t just talk or do things ’cause that’s how it goes, but to be so aware of our situation that we understand when we stray from faith/from a normal attitude. And this can only be revealed to us at the feet of God.

Remember, we said last time that wounds get formed when pain settles in your heart; the settlement of pain in your heart is called “believing in a lie”. You have to check what’s your drive, what’s the spirit behind your actions/words.

2. Surrendering for healing

After identifying that something wrong might be going on in your life, it’s time to look for a solution and ask God to fix things.

•> Pray consistently to God for healing

~ Psalm 91:15-16

The truth is, only God can heal you. He is the One doing the inner work. As we pray to Him for healing, He highlights the areas of our lives where we need to be cautious. He shows us our weaknesses, and our vulnerability and teaches us to guard our hearts. He teaches us to fight back against oppression with the truth.

And just a reminder that “healing is a process”.

•> Obedience and submission

~ James 4:7

As when we go to the doctor, he prescribes us medicine to take and determines the treatment period, so is it with God; His Word is our medicine, and our consecration is our treatment.

~ Matthew 11:28-30

~ Psalm 19:8

•> Ask for help!

Small question: What’s the role of people in our healing? (Take time to think about it)

God uses people for reaching out to us. People are tools for giving life. God gave us His Spirit, making us identical to Him “in a certain way”. Through Him, we give life, we co-create in other words.

Dear spiritual people, you are not machines/walls. When you’re not okay, seek help. Don’t stay in your corner to just pray and hide waiting for when you’ll be strong enough to go face the world again.

A wounded person is very vulnerable when it comes to the attacks of the devil. This is why we see even Christians committing suicide. So, it is important to get out of your room when you’re wounded.

Asking for help is not being weak, it is actually an act of courage. Find good friends to whom you can open up about your issue, people who can listen to you, cry with you, pray with you, make you laugh, spread hope etc. Approach your pastor, your brethren, mum/dad, wife, or child why not?

+ Talking, going out, and having conversations with people (even if it’s not directly related to your issue) can help a lot in getting some bad emotions out.

Don’t keep it to yourself❗️

And last but not least:

•> Wait on God

~ Isaiah 40:29-31

Nothing to add to this one. Go and be blessed.
