Who transforms who?

“Don’t try to change yourself according to God’s Word, but let God’s Word do the work in you and transform you accordingly.”
Many of us, while reading God’s Word, take it as a “to-do and not-to-do” list of things. Many of us read the Bible as if reading articles of a certain law that have to be fulfilled in time and accordance if we want to escape the punishment: perdition.
Many of us listen to sermons in search for a thing to do so as to get to heaven or to escape a certain punishment. Some of us stress up because when they read God’s Word, instead of being edified, It makes them feel unworthy and lost.
Some of us panic when they read a commandment they didn’t know about in The Bible. Some of us live as if God had a stopwatch to catch them in their sins and iniquity due to the unfulfilled law/Word.
Some of us chase perfection in God’s Word and not righteousness. Some of us chase knowledge and information instead of chasing transformation and intimacy.
Some of us read for appearing as saints instead of actually reading for walking in sanctification. Some of us read The Word for beating records, instead of reading it continually for being immersed in Jesus, deeper in the Truth.
Some of us forget that The Word of God is Jesus. We read for getting to know God Himself, His heart, will, position, desires and all. But many of us read it as a sentence to death because they do not fulfill all that is written in it.
But let’s set the clocks back on time
First of all ☝🏿️
⁃ It is impossible to fulfill all that is written in The Law
“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.””
Galatians 3:10 NKJV
⁃ We are not justified by the law but by faith in Jesus Christ
“Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:20 NKJV
“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”
Romans 10:4 NKJV
⁃ It is the Spirit that transforms us, not the knowledge of what we have read
“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
II Corinthians 3:5-6 NKJV
What we read in The Word of God is the perfection of Christ, and we were called to be like Him (Romans 8:29). As we read, we get a clearer image of who God is, and The Word that we receive inside can only be brought to life by The Spirit of God that is given to His Children.
It is Jesus who fulfills the law in us. The change is internal and not external. What’s inside is what will influence the outside. This means that only the One who is in us can operate that change in our lives. And it is not by works, or by trying to change this or that, but by letting The Holy Spirit work deeply in us and enable us to release and get rid of all that is not fitting to this new life (Zechariah 4:6).
As we read God’s Word, let it not be condemnation but revelation of who God is, and as a way of getting closer to Him so He can transform us in His image through His Holy Spirit.

Let Jesus be bigger in you,
